Well, it’s summer.

I’m still coming off the electrifying buzz of TEDxEmory, which we held on April 23, 2011 on the Emory University campus. Our team, a small and tireless group of undergraduates, pulled off a major victory!

From the 3 a.m. conference calls on Skype, to the campus-wide poster plastering, it was almost a full time job. I had a blast working one-on-one with speakers, like Josh Levs from CNN, Sanjay Parekh of StartupRiot, Dr. Gregory Berns, Dr. Maura Belliveau, Dr. Frans de Waal, and Dr. Keno Ono. Not to mention Rajesh Jegadesh and Guang Li, both Emory students.

The pace was chaotic, the day organized, and the people involved so friendly, smart, and savvy. Although TEDxEmory kept me awake at (seemingly) all hours of the night, I wholeheartedly believe we had a hand in putting Emory University on the map. We had over a quarter of a million unique visitor hits, almost 1,000 social media fans and followers, and a huge buzz both on campus and throughout Atlanta. We did it.

And the best part? Each of us on the Executive Team walked away feeling so accomplished, and so proud. Next year is going to be even bigger, and we’ve already begun working on it. (Actually, since the day after the event ended…perhaps even that night!) Our speakers are so receptive to us, as we pulled off one of the best TEDx events in the Southeast - in my opinion :)
